Plot

It's a bad sign when halfway through a film, I find myself thinking, "What exactly is this about?" It's even worse when I find myself saying it out loud.

It's even worse still when I find myself saying out loud at the end of the film.

Characters

This is the first time I've seen Nicole Kidman in a movie where she wasn't playing a ditzy idiot. Until now, I wasn't even sure she could act.

Turns out she can.

It's still weird to see John C. Reilly in serious roles, but he, along with everyone else, did really great jobs, despite the material they had to work with.

Visuals

This film was very dreary visually.

Product Placement

A few things show up during Julianne Moore's part of the movie, but they're in vintage packaging, and I never count that.

Rewatchability

I won't mind if I never see this again. In fact, I wish I hadn't seen it the first time.
