Celebrated writer/director Nora Ephron died last night of pneumonia, due to complications from leukemia, at the age of 71. Efron was one of the most well-liked filmmakers of our time, with actors such as Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks, Nicole Kidman, Steve Martin, and Billy Crystal, mourning her passing yesterday by taking to Twitter and various news outlets with the kindest recollections of the New York filmmaker.

Efron's career took off with When Harry Met Sally, which she wrote and associate-produced. She went on to make such classics as Sleepless in Seattle, You've Got Mail, and 2009's Academy Award Nominated Julie and Julia.

Crystal called her a "brilliant writer and humorist" in a statement to People Magazine. Martin tweeted that "She was the one you wanted to read, to listen to, to be in the company of."

Though her films will live on forever, Nora Ephron will be missed.
