Actor Tom Cruise is deeply saddened by the end of his five-year marriage to actress Katie Holmes, his representative says.
"Kate has filed for divorce and Tom is deeply saddened and is concentrating on his three children...Please allow them their privacy," usmagazine quoted Cruise's representative as saying.
The couple got married in 2006 and have a six-year-old daughter Suri Cruise. While this was the first marriage for Holmes, Cruise has been married twice before, to actress Mimi Rogers and actress Nicole Kidman. He had adopted two kids Isabella Jane and Connor Antony with Kidman.
Holmes is reportedly seeking the sole custody of her daughter after filing for the divorce in New York. She has cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason behind the split.
