Question by tenbob: Is it against the law to tell lies abou someone on “Answers” or other forums?

Could I be charged if I started telling lies about someone like George Bush murdered someone or Oprah Winfrey is an alien or Tom Cruise is gay.

What might be the ramifications?

In the u.s., there are no such criminal laws. If you commit libel you can be theoretically be sued for the damages you cause, but it is not a “charge.” Notice that the u.s. is not worldwide and every country has different laws.
