After the incredible worldwide acclaim he received for Oldboy, director Chan-wook Park is set to make his English-language film debut in 2013 with Stoker .
The film, which stars Nicole Kidman, Mia Wasikowska and Matthew Goode, was written by Prison Break’s Wentworth Miller and follows India (Wasikowska) as she struggles to deal with the death of her father – with her destructive mother doing her best to psychologically damage her and the arrival of an uncle she never knew existed.
The trailer looks suitably chilling, with lots of dark scenes and intense performances from the film’s stars. There are bodies in the freezer, violence, nasty insults and scarily seductive stares.
Check out the trailer below for more on Stoker, which is currently slated for release in March 2013.
After India’s (Wasikowska’s) father dies in an auto accident, her Uncle Charlie (Goode), who she never knew existed, comes to live with her and her emotionally unstable mother (Kidman). Soon after his arrival, she comes to suspect this mysterious, charming man has ulterior motives, but instead of feeling outrage or horror, this friendless girl becomes increasingly infatuated with him.
